Strikeforce At The Mansion II
1-2 Combo: MMA Hits The Playboy Mansion and Primetime
The best part? Fans don't have to pay ridiculous pay per view fees this time around. Viewers will be able to watch a live streaming feed, for free, of the main fight card in its entirety, including the two preliminary bouts. Coverage will begin at 7:30 PM PST (10:30 PM EST), and the link to the stream will appear on the official sites of both Sherdog and Strikeforce on the day of the event.
“We are looking forward to bringing fight fans around the world a great night of professional MMA action from the Playboy Mansion on a major web platform,” said Strikeforce CEO and Founder, Scott Coker. “Sherdog has been cutting edge in its delivery of MMA coverage since the sport’s early days so showcasing this event is a natural fit for its brand.”
The fight card will be headlined by a showdown between 2006 Pride Fighting Championship Grand Prix winner Kazuo “Grabaka Hitman” Misaki (20-8-2), and 25-year-old former UFC star, Joe “Diesel “Riggs (28-10).
Strikeforce, a world-class mixed martial arts cage fight promotion company, produced the first-ever MMA event at the Playboy Mansion on September 29, 2007. MMA legends Royce Gracie and Bas Rutten made appearances, as well as superstars Cung Le, Frank Shamrock, Josh Barnett and Andrei Arlovski. Hugh Hefner and his girlfriends also welcomed comedians Gary Shandling and Joe Rogan, as well as actors Michael Duncan Clarke, Christina Fulton, Jaime Pressley, Ethan Suplee, Ernie Hudson and Page Kennedy, among others.
MMA fans can also look forward to a lot more televised action; the upcoming Strikeforce on NBC is the first 52-week Mixed Martial Arts series on a major television network. Airing throughout the country between 1:00am and 4:00am late Saturday nights, each 30-minute episode will include fighter profiles, interviews, intense Strikeforce bouts & highlights and other behind-the-scenes action. The shows will also be available for viewing on nbc.com following the original airing.
Hosted by ESPN's Lon McEachern and MMA pioneering legend Ken Shamrock, Strikeforce on NBC will air 22 original programs and 8 “Best of” shows featuring the greatest moments and battles of the season.
