Kobe Injured

Will Kobe be playing Christmas day with his wrist injury?

In a word, yes. Kobe remains one of the most durable players in the NBA stating he will not take any time off due to his recent wrist injury. This injury was incurred after Kobe landed awkwardly after Jordan rejected his dunk attempt in the first NBA pre-season game.

Even with the Lakers starting with 3 games back to back to back to start the season, Kobe reports that he will not take any time off. Part of this is due to the fact that doctors have informed Kobe that he won’t be doing any additional harm to his wrist by playing and that it is simply a matter of managing the constant pain

Although Kobe is a proven winner and a one capable of playing through pain and adversity, the most painful thing for him to endure this season may be the Laker’s record. With Andrew Bynum out to start the season, Lamar Odom heading to the Mavs, and CP3 not making his way to LA, Kobe is likely most concerned with his team’s overall shrinking talent level.

Oh, and just to make things extra interesting in lala land, the Laker’s have Mike Brown taking over as head coach. Although Kobe down-plays the difference of this shift, Brown’s public critique of Bryant’s first pre-season game defense may quickly wear thin and we’ve all seen Kobe’s lack of patience before when he’s on a less than competitive team. It should be an interesting 2011-2012 season for the Lakers.
