David Beckham seemed to let out some of his frustrations concerning his recent Olympics 2012 snub, lashing out an allegedly "injured" fallen San Jose Earthquakes player by kicking the ball at him whilst he was on the ground in "pain".
Beckham recently failed to be included in Stuart Pearce's line-up for the Team GB Olympic football squad, a controversial omission considering Beckham's heavy involvement in bringing the Olympic games to London this year. To add to his troubles, he has now been fined an undisclosed amount by the Major League Soccer disciplinary committee for his altercation with Earthquakes player Sam Cronin and has been banned for one game.
A statement from the MLS read: "The committee considered his conduct unacceptable and detrimental to the league's public image. Beckham will serve his suspension on Sunday afternoon when the Galaxy take on the Chicago Fire at Toyota Park."
Beckham's (still perfectly accurate) kick of the ball at the fallen Cronin is believed to have been due to his alleged time-wasting, which doesn't seem implausible at all when you consider just how quickly the "injured" Cronin rose to his feet following the incident.
Earthquakes defeated Galaxy 4-3 in the match with Galaxy head coach also fined an undisclosed amount for critising the match officials.
