Who knew all of the creative ways one could cheat in a football game. I guess if you're playing Oregon, you need all the help you can get. USC apparently thought so.
A USC student manager deflated five footballs during last week's game against Oregon in an attempt to give the Trojans an advantage on offense. When the balls are deflated below NCAA regulations it makes them much easier to catch.
USC claims the student acted alone, releasing the following statement:
Officials reportedly found three balls that were under-inflated during the game and two more at half. Supposedly the manager was fired soon after. All game balls during the second half were regulation. The actions still prompted a reprimand from the Pac-12, who fined USC.
Some think this is a botched attempt by Lane Kiffin to gain an edge over his opponent. After all, he definitely doesn't have the cleanest track record.
After trailing 34-24 at halftime, USC lost to the Ducks 62-51.
