Jordan Banned From Golf Club

The former NBA great violates a club policy and gets the ultimate punishment.

NBA Hall-of-Famer Michael Jordan is used to things falling his way. Blessed with skills beyond the norm on the court and a smooth business savvy off it, things almost always have a habit of bowing down to the will of perhaps the most competitive and dominate sports personality the world has ever seen.

The key word in that last part would be, almost.

According to the New York Post, the six time NBA champion was recently playing at a high-end Miami Beach country club named La Gorce when he was asked to change out of the cargo pants he was wearing. Jordan, being Jordan, refused and the club, which has a very strict dress code that states players must wear a collared shirt and either slacks or Bermuda shorts, has effectively banned him from returning again.

The incident occurred because members complained about the cargo pants Jordan was wearing. When he refused to change, it effectively closed the doors to the club from here on out. "He won't be invited back," the source told The Post.

Here is Jordan's side of the story.

"A rep for Jordan said, 'Michael Jordan did wear cargo pants . . . He had been there many times before and had worn cargo pants previously, and had never been made aware that he was violating any dress code. This time, he was made aware of the violation on the 12th hole, and at that point . . . he did refuse to interrupt his game, and return to the clubhouse and change. We were not aware that he is not allowed to return to La Gorce. I guess it's their loss — as MJ is a great golfer, and a great guest.'"

Rules being rules, the club is obviously in the right for approaching Jordan to make him aware of the dress code. That being said, an outright ban after just one instance of noncompliance seems a bit excessive, especially when considering the pedigree of the person in question.

Though something tells me that if Jordan wanted to go another round at that club, that ban would suddenly disappear.
