Olympian Oscar Pistorius’ Nike ‘Bullet’ Ad Pulled

The heroic runner is being charged with murder. See the unfortunate, ironic ad that had to be taken down today in light of the unfolding events.

By now I'm sure you're aware of the death of a woman believed to be the girlfriend of Olympian star Oscar Pistorius.

According to police reports, the woman was shot in her arm and head when Pistorius mistook her for a burglar. The woman died at the scene.

Although Pistorius was "shocked" at the scene when questioned by police, the 26-year-old has been charged with murder by South African police and has opposed his request for bail.

Here is a screen shot from his Nike 'bullet' ad that had to be taken down today — very eery stuff.

This ad is still up, but still promotes his body as a weapon. Innocent enough, but still eery nonetheless:

According to Business Day, a South African Nike South Africa commented: "This is a very unfortunate story and it is still under investigation. We'll not make any decision until we hear from Oscar or his agent."

Guilty or not, Pistorius has gone from top of the world to the darkest hole imaginable in just a matter of months. In this past summer Olympics, Pistorius became the first double-leg amputee to participate in the games when he ran the men's 400 meters and was part of the 4×400 meter relay team. He was also a gold medalist in the 2012 Summer Paralympics.
