Things are about to get funnier over at IFC.
The network has announced that it has picked up the rights for four cult classic comedy series: "The Ben Stiller Show," "Mr. Show with Bob and David," "Action" and "The Larry Sanders Show."
Starting on Monday, January 3, IFC will air a 90 minute comedy block of "Larry Sanders," "Mr. Show" and "Ben Stiller" three nights a week. The episodes will also air with new interviews with the writers and stars of each series, which are hosted by Comedy Death Ray's founder, Scott Aukerman. Andy Dick will be the first actor featured from "The Ben Stiller Show," while Sarah Silverman will appear to talk about her time on "Mr. Show." The IFC premiere of "Action" will be held off until the fourth quarter of 2011.
"The Larry Sanders Show" starred Gary Shandling in the title role as a neurotic late night talk show host, who desperately tried to stay on top while getting as many big name celebrities onto his show as he could. The series ran for six years on HBO.
"The Ben Stiller Show" was a short loved comedy sketch series on Fox starring Stiller, Dick, Janeane Garofalo and Bob Odenkirk and also marked one of Judd Apatow's earliest TV projects.
"Mr. Show with Bob and David" featured Odenkirk and David Cross in a surreal comedy sketch series that featured several comedians including Silverman, Jay Johnston, Brian Posehn, Jerry Minor, Jack Black, Paul F. Tompkins and Tom Kenny during its three year run on HBO.
"Action" premiered on Fox back in 1999 and was essentially the "Entourage" of its time. It starred Jay Mohr as Peter Dragon, a ruthless producer who was willing to go to any lengths to land a client, including sleeping with a man! However, it only lasted for a single season.
IFC will also be debuting two original comedy series in January: the previously announced "Onion News Network" and "Portlandia," a new series by Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein.
