Emmy winner Eric McCormack is coming back to TV.
TNT has announced that McCormack has agreed to play Dr. Geoffrey Pierce in the upcoming drama pilot tentatively called "Perception." Dr. Pierce is described as a neuroscientist whose unique perspective is often used by the federal government to investigate complex crimes.
The pilot script for "Perception" was written by Kenneth Biller ("Smallville," "Legend of the Seeker") and Mike Sussman ("Star Trek: Voyager") and the project will be produced for TNT by ABC Studios.
"Perception" marks McCormack's third collaboration with TNT. He previously starred in the TNT original series "Trust Me" and produced a pilot for the network called "Imperfect Union" in 2007.
“Eric McCormack is an intelligent, intuitive and versatile actor who is adept at both comedy and drama,” said TNT's Executive Vice President of Programming, Michael Wright. “We’re very excited to work with him again and can’t wait to see what he brings to the fascinating character of Dr. Geoffrey Pierce.”
McCormak is best known for his role as Will Turner on the NBC sitcom, "Will & Grace" which ran for eight seasons and led to his best actor in a comedy series award at the 2001 Emmys. He also starred in "The Lost World," and "Free Enterprise" and appeared in several TV series including "Lonesome Dove: The Series," "Highlander: The Series" and "Ally McBeal."
More recently, McCormack has headlined a remake of "The Andromeda Strain" and the TV movie "Who is Clark Rockefeller?" in addition to guest stints on "Monk," "The New Adventures of Old Christine" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit."
