In the current television season, CBS is riding a wave of success. Not only has it topped all of the other broadcast networks through the first month of the season, it is also the first network to extend full season orders to all five of its new shows.
"Hawaii Five-0," "Blue Bloods," "Mike & Molly," "The Defenders" and "$#*! My Dad Says" have all been given the pickup for additional episodes, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"It's personally thrilling and extremely satisfying," said CBS Entertainment President, Nina Tassler. "I like kept walking around the halls going, 'I want 5 for 5.'"
However, the network declined to state whether each series would get the traditional "back nine" episodes. "Hawaii Five-0" is said to be possibly getting nine additional episodes plus an order for two scripts while "$#*! My Dad Says" may only get six episodes on top of the original 13.
With an average of 14.2 million viewers, "Hawaii 5-0" has been the top performer among the new shows. The series is a revival of the original "Hawaii 5-0" that ran for twelve seasons on CBS. The new version stars Alex O'Loughlin, Scott Caan, Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park with "Heroes" alumni Masi Oka in a recurring role.
Among the rest of the fall series, "Blue Bloods" has averaged 12.7 million viewers, "Mike & Molly" has pulled in 12.3 million while "The Defenders" and "$#*! My Dad Says" have both averaged 11.3 million.
Earlier this week, rival network NBC extended full season pick ups to freshmen series "Chase," "The Event," "Law & Order: Los Angeles," "Outsourced" and the returning series "Chuck."
