Earlier this month, it was announced that James Cameron was shopping a TV adaptation of his 1994 film "True Lies" to the major TV networks. And apparently, the project has already found a home.

ABC has picked up "True Lies" in a "premium deal that includes a large penalty" according to Deadline. Rene Echevarria ("The 4400") is attached to write the pilot and will be the showrunner for the potential series. The series will be produced by Cameron's Lightstorm  Entertainment and 20th Century Fox TV.

In the original "True Lies" film, Arnold Schwarzenegger portrayed Harry Tasker, a seemingly normal computer salesman with a wife and daughter who was secretly one of America's top secret agents. Upon learning that his wife Helen (Jamie Lee Curtis) was board with him and considering an affair, he set her up in a fake spy mission to give her the excitement that she craved before inadvertently pulling her into his latest assignment to prevent middle eastern terrorists from securing nuclear weapons.

Cameron previously had a TV series on Fox called "Dark Angel," which starred Jessica Alba as a genetically engineered young woman in a dystopian future. The series helped propel Alba to her current level of stardom.

ABC's last great spy series was J.J. Abrams' "Alias," which was reportedly under consideration for a reboot a few months ago. The network also attempted to bring "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" to the small screen in 2007, but the adaptation wasn't ordered as a full series.

The network has also commissioned a "Charlie's Angels" reboot from former "Smallville" executive producers Al Gough and Miles Millar.
