As the final season of "Smallville" approaches next month, three additional actors have agreed to come back to the long-running superhero series.
Michael Ironside and Peyton List will return as General Sam Lane and Lucy Lane respectively, for an episode early in the tenth season according to TV Guide. Both have previously appeared in separate episodes during the fourth season of "Smallville" as the father and younger sister of Lois Lane (Erica Durance). But this will be the first time the two characters have appeared together on this series.
Ironside is a veritable legend of genre film and television, with memorable roles in "Top Gun," "Starship Troopers," "Total Recall" and "Terminator Salvation." List has previously appeared in "Monk," "FlashForward" and "CSI" in addition to her recurring role on AMC's "Mad Men."
Additionally, Entertainment Weekly is reporting that John Glover has signed on to reprise his role as Lionel Luthor in two episodes slated to air in November. Glover was one of the original cast members of "Smallville" and one of the series' lead villains until his demise at the hands of his son Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum) back in the seventh season.
Glover also has a rich resume in film and television, including "Gremlins 2: The New Batch," "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," "Brimstone," "Miami Vice" and he currently appears on "Brothers & Sisters."
Back at TV Guide, "Smallville" executive producer Kelly Souders was briefly interviewed about Laura Vandervoort's previously announced return as Kara and indicated that she will finally become Supergirl.
"You really see her as Supergirl," said Souders. "Not the whole outfit, but her wardrobe will have evolved even a little more than Clark's. She's less Kara and way more Supergirl."
The report also states that Kara begins to disguise herself after the media witnesses her in action during a dynamic rescue.
"You'll see Kara in the [brunette] wig and glasses [as] a bit of an homage to her other identity from the comics, Linda Lee Danvers," added Vandervort.
The tenth season of "Smallville" begins on Friday, September 24.
