Vampires are all the craze these days, but what happens when you throw in a ghost and a werewolf too?

Based on the UK/BBC series of the same name, “Being Human” is produced by Muse Entertainment and stars Sam Witwer (“Smallville,” “Battlestar Galactica” and “CSI”), Meaghan Rath (“Prom Wars,” “18 to Life”) Sam Huntington (“Fanboys,” “Superman Returns”), and Mark Pellegrino (“Supernatural,” “Lost”). The program adaptation, which just started production in Canada, is written and executive produced by husband-and-wife duo Jeremy Carver (“Waterfront,” “Supernatural”) and Anna Fricke (“Dawson’s Creek,” “Everwood”). It’s set to premiere next summer.

The show profiles three paranormal friends in Boston – a werewolf, a ghost, and a vampire, who are all trying to live life normally as human beings and hide their secret “otherworldly” powers. It’s a smart, dark and witty drama that will run for 13 one-hour episodes and will air on SyFy in the U.S. and SPACE channel in Canada. The third series of its popular British counterpart will also air next year.

“The BBC’s ‘Being Human’ captured my imagination completely, so when I had the opportunity to be involved with the reinvention of the series, I jumped at the chance,” says Director and co-Executive Producer Adam Kane. “We’ve brought a fresh take to the visual language and storylines, introducing a distinctive flavour to the heart and soul of what makes the series identifiable, human, and entertaining.”

Michael Prupas, Executive Producer and President of Muse Entertainment, adds, “’Being Human’ is truly innovative in that it ingeniously interweaves supernatural, drama, comedy and horror. Audiences will be hooked from the first scenes and thoroughly captivated.”

Look for “Being Human” in summer 2011.
