NBC Universal's Universal Networks International (UNI) has picked up the foreign pay distribution rights to the Canadian police program “Shattered.”

After picking up the rights to other popular dramas like “Haven” (a TV show based on a Stephen King novella) and “Rookie Blue,” UNI showed interest in the northern-made show, which is produced through E1 Entertainment and Force Four Films. Thirteen one-hour episodes of “Shattered” will be shown on UNI as well as Universal Channel and 13th Street Universal.

“We're delighted that ‘Shattered’ has found a home with the ever-innovative Universal Networks International,” said Peter Emerson, president of E1 Television International. “We know they’ll pull off a spectacular launch for this unique show.”

“Shattered” is the story of a homicide detective with a unique personality disorder that threatens his career and his reputation. Played by Callum Keith Rennie, who has also appeared in several episodes of “24” and “FlashForward”, lead character Ben Sullivan works closely with his partner Amy Lynch (Camille Sullivan) to solve the numerous murder cases that they’re assigned to each episode. The series is filmed in Vancouver.

“E1 is a trusted partner for us and we know that the show will deliver on quality and originality for viewers," said Martin Irusta, senior VP of programming and acquisitions at Universal Networks International. "’Shattered’ is further evidence of our exciting original programming growth strategy. This show presents something different for fans of traditional police procedural shows and reflects the wealth of creative talent behind it.”

“Shattered” debuts on Global TV this fall.
