CBC recently announced its new fall line-up, and it’s a smorgasbord of programming including comedies and reality shows, most of which already found a home on the network. The series for figure skaters and hockey players, Battle of the Blades, will return for another season and has Theo Fleury of the Calgary Flames on board. Mainstay favourites are back like Being Erica along with The Tudors, Heartland, The Fifth Estate, Dragons’ Den, and The Rick Mercer Report, not to mention the 50th season of The Nature of Things.

New to the station is the quirky comedy Men With Brooms based on the 2002 Canadian movie of the same name.  Home decor guru Debbie Travis’ goes primetime with a new show All For One, which follows real-life unsung heroes across the country, from urban communities to rural villages. "People are the most fascinating [thing to me],” she said in an interview with the CBC. “That's why reality, when done well, is the best television because real is real.”

While there aren’t many new shows on the upcoming fall programming schedule, the network is following the adage “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” after experiencing good ratings last year. “Now that we’ve built a good relationship with our audience, it’s time to take it further,” Kirstine Stewart, general manager of CBC Television, said in an interview with Globe & Mail. "[We have] shows that reflect [Canadians'] interests, their lives, their stories. They're set in towns and cities across our beautiful country. And they feature the great talents of Canadian writers, director, producers and actors."

The fall CBC line-up kicks off on the third week of September.
