One of the burning questions after last night's series finale of "Lost" has been answered.
In the penultimate scene of the episode, nearly every actor who has played a major role on "Lost" was reunited with a few notable exceptions. In particular, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who portrayed Mr. Eko — a former war lord turned man of god — during the second season of "Lost" as well as the first few episodes of the third season.
However, Akinnuoye-Agbaje was offered a chance to return for the finale, according to E Online The report states that the actor was offered "a hearty sum" to come back for a single scene, but requested an amount "five times" larger than the offer.
Subsequently, a deal was unable to be made.
Last year, Akinnuoye-Agbaje indicated his willingness to return to "Lost" during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
“Fans of Eko should have hope,” said Akinnuoye-Agbaje. “I loved playing that character. I loved working with that team and the reception I got from people was phenomenal. Even at Comic-Con this year I went to sign my action figure for G.I. Joe and people had tons of questions about Lost. It makes you feel good that you could be off a show for more than a year and still have people thinking about your character. It was a great part."
“I’m here for them,” continued Akinnuoye-Agbaje. “Adewale is open for business. We have had talks about some things they might do for the final season and there are other dead folks coming back allegedly but at the moment it is still a maybe. A strong maybe but I have not shot anything yet or signed any contracts. But I’m hoping.”
"Lost" producer Damon Lindelof has previously stated that the original storyline for Mr. Eko would have played out over four seasons, had Akinnuoye-Agbaje not decided to leave the series prematurely.
