Betty White was the highly-anticipated host of “Saturday Night Live” last week, and White brought in the highest ratings for “SNL” in 18 months. So let’s look back and see which “SNL” hosts were the most memorable.
10- John Travolta
Everyone loves the smooth John Travolta, and after his “Coffee Talk” skit playing a guest who does endless Barbra Streisand impersonations in 1994, we loved him even more.
9- Betty White
Is there anything funnier than sweet Betty White talking about her crusty muffins on the NPR radio show "Delicious Dish" alongside Molly Shannon and Ana Kristina Gasteyer? Good times, good times...
8- Justin Timberlake
Who knew that Timberlake’s idea for a perfect Christmas present, a d*ck in a box, would provide the ex- 'N Syncer with an Emmy? Timberlake performed the hilarious music video with Andy Samberg back in December 2006.
7- John Goodman
Dan Conner was notorious for his giant sense of humor, which Goodman showed off on “SNL” when he replaced John Belushi as Dan Aykroyd's partner in the popular Blues Brothers Band. Goodman was a host favourite, appearing 13 times.
6 - Jerry Seinfeld
Jerry Seinfeld’s smug grin and terrible acting skills didn’t stop SNLers from loving his hosting abilities on “Saturday Night Live” in 1992 and ’99. One of the funniest skits – playing a high school history teacher to a class that included Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, and David Spade.
5 - Christopher Walken
Christopher Walken may have some dark roles on his resume, but he proudly flexed his funny bone on SNL seven times. Undeniably, his most memorable character was Bruce Dickinson, who incessantly wanted “more cowbell!”
4 - Tom Hanks
Tom Hanks is a crowd favourite, and his impersonation of himself on “Celebrity Jeopardy” made everyone LOL. He hosted “SNL” eight times, sometimes twice in one year.
3 - Jim Carrey
Everyone knew Jim Carrey would be a terrific “Saturday Night Live” host after his long-standing gig on “In Living Colour.” Still, Carrey playing an off-kilter lifeguard opposite Will Ferrell was hilarious.
2 - Alec Baldwin
Alec Baldwin and his schwetty balls will be making his 15th appearance as a “SNL” host on May 15th, and we can’t wait to see what gut-busting characters he’ll take on next.
1- Steve Martin
This wild and crazy guy played host on “SNL” an unbelievable 15 times – Steve Martin starred in skits like “The Festrunk Brothers” and “King Tut,” making him by far one of the most favoured and beloved “Saturday Night” hosts in the show’s history.
