Frank Darabont has filled two more pivotal roles for the upcoming TV adaptation of The Walking Dead.
Laurie Holden has been cast as Andrea and Steven Yeun has been tapped to portray Glenn, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Holden has previously appeared in several films and TV series, including "The X-Files," "Silent Hill," "The Mist" and had a memorable turn as Agent Olivia Murray during the final season of "The Shield." Yeun is a relative newcomer, who recently starred in the film "Carpe Millennium" and has also appeared in "My Name Is Jerry" and "The Kari Files."
The Walking Dead comic book series was created in 2003 by Robert Kirkman and artist Tony Moore. In the original comics, Andrea and her younger sister Amy are among the first to join the group of survivors. Over the course of the series, Andrea becomes incredibly adapt with a sniper riffle and is physically scarred several times while battling for her life. She also develops a romantic relationship with a man more than twice her age.
At the start of the comic book series, Glenn is already an expert scavenger and well-versed in avoiding Zombies. He later goes on to marry one of the other survivors while acting as a surrogate father for a young girl whose mother committed suicide.
Andrew Lincoln has previously been cast as the main character, a former small town policeman named Rick Grimes, along with Jon Bernthal as Rick's partner, Shane and Sarah Wayne Callies as Rick's wife, Lori Grimes. Jeffrey DeMunn has also been signed to portray a currently undisclosed role.
It's worth noting that Holden and DeMunn have both worked together previously with Darabont on "The Mist" and "The Majestic." DeMunn has also appeared in two of Darabont's best known films, "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile."
"The Walking Dead" will begin airing in October on AMC, with a first season order of six episodes.
