“Less Than Kind” is the latest home-grown television series to draw huge audiences and amass some impressive awards – and season two has been picked up by Astral Media and Corus Entertainment (who own The Movie Network, Movie Central and HBO Canada). With a Canadian Comedy Award, a Gemini Award (as well as a second nomination) and a Leo under its belt, the quirky Winnipeg-based series profiles 15-year-old Sheldon Blecher (played by Jesse Camacho) and his eccentric family (mom’s a pyromaniac, dad’s a driving instructor with his own struggling company, and his brother’s a washed-up actor). Produced by Breakthrough Films & Television and Buffalo Gal Pictures, “Less Than Kind’s” second season is set to premiere in February.

“We are thrilled to be bringing ‘Less Than Kind’ to The Movie Network and Movie Central,” says writer Mark McKinney. “My previous experience with these premium pay TV services on ‘Slings & Arrows’ was beyond positive. ‘Less Than Kind’ is a creatively ambitious show with a superb cast and a distinct comedic tone the likes of which The Movie Network and Movie Central have always embraced. This feels like we are coming home.”

Guest stars for the second season include funnyman Dave Foley of “Kids in the Hall” fame as well as “Cheers’” George Wendt (Norrrrm!), Shaun Majumder from “This Hour Has 22 Minutes,” and Henry Czerny of “The Tudors.”

The new second season of “Less Than Kind” will premiere on Friday, February 19th at 8:30 pm on HBO Canada.
