Got kids? Do you know what they are watching? Well according to Cartoon Network your six year old is watching Star Wars: The Clone Wars and apparently loving it so much that they’ve renewed the show for 22 episodes, one of them being an hour long premier that will introduce another exciting chapter in the Star Wars saga.
While I read Star Wars novels, and comics I had to draw the line with the CGI series. I just can’t get with Anakin, the soon to be scourge of the Galaxy having a cute little padawan. The geek in me is mad at Lucas for this decision but that doesn’t mean that you and your kids can’t sit down and enjoy a technically good show.
I say technically good because it is. On a technological level the show is off the chain. Er um I mean really well done. I know it seems like I’m endorsing something I can’t stand behind but hear me out. I think that cartoons made in America are 30 minute long toy commercials that insult the intelligence of children. The stories are barely there and the formulas are all dumbed down.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars offers kids an alternative that their parents can feel good about. I don’t have to like the show to understand that it’s better for kids now than G.I. Joe was for me. There is a strong story behind The Clone Wars that can’t be denied. The voice acting is good and the characters are memorable.
In short The Clone Wars tries to put together quality entertainment for kids and for the most part they succeed. In a time when you really have to worry about what your kids are watching Cartoon Network has high quality programming that you can enjoy with your kids.
