Popular Canuck funny man Ron James is getting his own self-titled show, and production on the show has begun. Putting a limelight on his comedic talent, “The Ron James Show” will also feature various sketch routines as well as regular mini-episodes of 'Lil Ronnie', an animated view of James’ childhood years growing up in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
Ron James has been playing the stand-up circuit to sold-out venues across Canada for more than a decade. He was a part of the shows “Blackfly” and “Made in Canada,” which garnered two awards for Best Stand-Up in 2000, and he took home another award for Best One Person Show in 2004 for his work on “The Road Between My Ears.” He has also been part of the award-winning writing team for the comedy show “This Hour Has 22 Minutes,” and after playing a role in the dramatic big-screen flick “Something About Love,” Ron James received a Gemini nod. The “Ottawa Citizen” has called him the funniest man in Canada, and the “Globe and Mail” has hailed Ron James as “devastatingly funny and clever.”
“I’m just trying to make sense of the daily chaos we’re all walking through on this rapidly spinning planet,” James said of his upcoming show, which premieres September 25th at 8pm on CBC Television. Tickets for the live taping are still available if you’d like to be a part of their studio audience at the CBC’s Canadian Broadcasting centre in downtown Toronto – just visit Ron James’ official site for more info (http://www.ronjames.ca/).
