By Johnny Firecloud | HBO's critically acclaimed crime drama "The Wire" has teamed up with the Fader for a charity auction on eBay, with all proceeds being donated to The Ella Thompson Fund and The Baltimore Museum of Industry in Maryland. |
Items up for auction include DVD sets of the first four seasons of "The Wire," all signed by the cast of the hit show, as well as five custom designed hoodies, curated by Jeff Staple of Reed Space/Jeff Staple Design group. Each hoodie is designed by a different artist and signed by a celebrity, including Q-Tip, Wyclef, Lupe Fiasco, Mims and Jamie Hector. If you're in Manhattan, the hoodies are available for viewing at the HBO store on 42nd and 6th Avenue. Autographed posters and a signed copy of "The Wire" soundtrack will also be included in the auction.
Here's why your contributions matter: The Ella Thompson Fund exists to support programs that provide recreation to kids in Baltimore's inner-city neighborhoods, as well as programs that strive to connect children with the natural environment. The Baltimore Museum of Industry cultivates educational programs and exhibits that explore the stories of Maryland's industries, as well as those of the people who founded them. Their mission is to collect, preserve, and interpret the industrial and technological heritage of the Baltimore region for the public.
Catch "The Wire" Sundays at 9pm on HBO.
