Showtime has announced that both "Ray Donovan" and "Masters of Sex" will be going forward as series in 2013.
"Ray Donovan" stars Liev Schreiber in the title role as the best "trouble shooter" in Los Angeles who is often called upon to fix "the complicated, confidential and controversial problems of the city’s elite." Jon Voight costars as the ex-con patriarch of Ray's family with Elliot Gould as Ray's mentor, Eddie Marsan and Dash Mihok as Ray's brothers and Paula Malcomson as Ray's wife, Abby.
"Masters of Sex" is based on the true lives of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, a pair of researchers who redefined the science of human sexuality. Although Paul Bettany was originally cast as Masters, the role will now be played by Michael Sheen, with Lizzy Caplan as Johnson. Caitlin Fitzgerald costars as Masters' wife, with Nicholas D’Agosto and Teddy Sears also costarring. Beau Bridges and Margo Martindale will also appear in guest roles during the pilot episode. "Masters of Sex" is based upon the novel of the same name by Thomas Maier, with a pilot episode adapted by executive producer Michelle Ashford ("The Pacific") and directed by John Madden (Shakespeare in Love).
A premiere date for "Ray Donovan" and "Masters of Sex" has yet to be announced.
