Joss Whedon’s ‘Doctor Horrible’ Heads To The CW

Whedon's blockbuster web series will air next season as the Avengers director hints at a sequel to come.

During the WGA strike, Joss Whedon assembled a team to create "Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along-Blog," a musical web series that starred Neil Patrick Harris as the title character, Doctor Horrible with Nathan Fillion as his "heroic" nemesis, Captain Hammer and Felicia Day as Penny, the woman whom Horrible desires despite his villainous aspirations.

After becoming one of the biggest sensations on the web to date, fans have been clamoring for more "Doctor Horrible" for years. And while a sequel appears to be a ways off, "Doctor Horrible" will come to the CW next season.

During a panel sponsored by Dark Horse Comics, Whedon announced that the original "Doctor Horrible" will be on TV and he reconfirmed that a sequel is still in the works with several songs having already been written by Whedon and his brothers. Zack and Jed Whedon.

Whedon also indicated that the "Doctor Horrible" sequel may even go into production this spring, but he didn't confirm a starting date. Whedon also mentioned that he has not yet decided if he will return to direct the sequel to the wildly successful adaptation of Marvel's The Avengers.
