So far, the CW’s “Arrow” — an adaptation of DC’s Green Arrow — has been pulling in villains from all over the DC Universe to take on Arrow/Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell). But Arrow is about to get some backup.
Back in August, it was announced that Australian actress Jessica De Gouw had signed on to portray Helena Bertinelli aka The Huntress. And in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, the magazine has published the first look at De Gouw in costume.
The accompanying quote by “Arrow” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg on the picture says “On an emotional level, she and Oliver are both damaged by their pasts, and then the fact that she's hot and Oliver is into her makes it all the more complicated."
In her most famous incarnation, The Huntress was Helena Wayne, the daughter of Batman and Catwoman. The Helena Bertinelli version of The Huntress was developed years later with a different backstory that cast her as the daughter of a murdered mobster who is inspired by Batman to create her own costumed identity on her quest for revenge.
Huntress will make her debut in the seventh episode of “Arrow” written by Geoff Johns and Marc Guggenheim. De Gouw will appear as The Huntress in at least two episodes of the series and possibly more.
The Huntress may not be the only DC heroine coming to “Arrow.” During a recent appearance on the Nerd Nation podcast (via Bleeding Cool), comic scribe Marc Andreyko implied that the Kate Spencer version of Manhunter (whom Andreyko created) may also appear in an upcoming episode of “Arrow.”
