“American Horror Story” fans don’t have to hold their collective breaths about the series’ renewal chances. FX has made it official.
In a brief announcement, FX formally renewed “American Horror Story” for a third season of 13 episodes, set to begin production next summer..
The network also noted that Jessica Lange will be coming back for the third season of “American Horror Story,” but in an entirely new role. As conceived by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, each season of “American Horror Story” jumps to a different tale with a brand new set of characters.
There’s currently no indication where or when the third season of “American Horror Story” will take place, but Murphy and Falchuk indicated that Lange will not be the only cast member to return to the series next season.
In the first season of “American Horror Story,” Lange portrayed Constance Langdon, a scheming mother who was all too aware of the power of the Murder House. Lange took home an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe for her performance as Constance.
For “American Horror Story: Asylum,” Lange plays Sister Jude, a somewhat sadistic nun running from her own guilt and desires.
“American Horror Story” season 3 will debut in Fall 2013.
