If ABC’s upcoming “S.H.I.E.L.D.” pilot is heading to production in January, then there’s only one more major role to fill after today.
TVLine is reporting that Brett Dalton has landed one of the last remaining leading parts on “S.H.I.E.L.D.;” the upcoming TV pilot that takes place within the same world as Marvel’s The Avengers, Captain America and Iron Man.
Dalton will portray Agent Grant Ward, who is described as “ a skilled rising star with the organization who is described as deadly, precise and cool under fire but lacking people skills.”
Ming-Na Wen was previously cast as Agent Melinda May, with Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Gemma Simmons and Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz. Clark Gregg will also reprise his Agent Phil Coulson role in the “S.H.I.E.L.D.” pilot. At this point, only the young female agent known as Skye has yet to be cast.
Prior to landing his role on “S.H.I.E.L.D.,” Dalton made guest appearances on “Blue Bloods,” “Army Wives” and he has a major part in the upcoming TV film, Killing Lincoln.
The Avengers director Joss Whedon is helming and executive producing the “S.H.I.E.L.D.” pilot in addition to co-writing the pilot script with his brother, Jed Whedon and Jed’s wife, Maurissa Tancharoen.
Although a start date for the principal production hasn’t been officially announced, “S.H.I.E.L.D.” is widely viewed as having a very good chance to make ABC’s fall 2013 schedule.
