Alex Winter Sells ‘Rights of Bill’ To AMC

The former co-star of the Bill and Ted movies brings a militia drama to AMC.

Last week, AMC ordered drama pilots from the executive producers of “Breaking Bad” and “Nikita.” But the network hasn’t stopped searching for new dramas.

According to Deadline, AMC has purchased a Midwestern militia pitch from Alex Winter. The project is tentatively called “Rights of Bill” and it follows a Sheriff who decides to create his own militia, setting himself up as both the law and an outlaw at the same time.

Winter is best known for playing Bill S. Preston Esq. in Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure and its sequel, Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey opposite Keanu Reeves’ Ted Theodore Logan. In addition to acting, Winter is also a screenwriter and a director who has helmed the two live action Ben 10 movies on Cartoon Network and he will also direct the upcoming 3D remake of The Gate.

There are even rumors that a third Bill and Ted movie is in the works, with both Winter and Reeves interested in reprising their iconic roles.
