Sean Bean Joins TNT’s ‘Legends’

The former “Game of Thrones” star will replace Brendan Fraser as the main character.

Last month, Brendan Fraser departed the TNT pilot, “Legends;” which would have been his first starring role on television. In Fraser’s place, the producers have turned to another veteran of film and TV.

Deadline is reporting that Sean Bean has been chosen to play the lead in “Legends.” Bean will portray Martin Odum, a deep cover espionage operative who has the unique talent to completely disguise himself as a different person for each mission.

Bean is perhaps best known for playing Boromir in the Lord of the Rings films and Lord Eddard Stark on HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” Bean also has plenty of experience playing in the espionage world from his turns in Goldeneye, Patriot Games, Ronin and Sharpe as well as the recent ABC TV series, “Missing.”

“Legends” is based upon the novel of the same name by Robert Littell, with Howard Gordon (“Homeland”) attached as an executive producer.
