Back in November, CBS gave the greenlight to “Under The Dome,” an upcoming television adaptation of the Stephen King novel of the same name with Steven Spielberg attached to executive produce. And with the series set to debut later this year, the initial casting decision has finally been announced.
Over at Deadline, Colin Ford has been confirmed as the first actor to sign on for “Under The Dome.” The report cites Ford’s role as a teenager named Joe, who is trapped in the town of Chester’s Mill when a mysterious dome cuts it off from the rest of the world… while both of Joe’s parents are outside of the dome.
Ford’s part may be analogous to Joseph "Scarecrow Joe" McClatchey from King’s original novel; who was a pivotal character in the story, but a few years younger than Ford.
Although Ford is perhaps best known for playing a younger Sam Winchester during flashback sequences on “Supernatural,” he also had a major role in We Bought A Zoo and he voices the title character in the animated series, “Jake And The Never Land Pirates.” Ford has also made guest appearances on “Revolution,” “Smallville” and “Journeyman.”
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo director, Niels Arden Oplev is set to helm the pilot episode of “Under The Dome” from a script by comic writer and “Lost” veteran, Brian K. Vaughan. The 13 episode first season of “Under The Dome” is slated to premiere this summer on CBS.
