It’s been about two and a half years since “Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome” was announced by Syfy and it took almost that long for the project to emerge online.
In 2012, Syfy shot down the possibility of “Blood & Chrome” becoming a weekly series on the network before the project disappeared for months. But earlier today, the network finally announced that “Blood & Chrome” will finally make it to television as a two hour movie on Sunday, February 10.
The TV movie will reportedly include scenes that weren’t a part of the “Blood & Chrome” web series that ran on Machinima last year. On Tuesday, February 19, “Blood & Chrome” will be released on DVD, Blu-ray and VOD.
“Blood & Chrome” takes place during the first war between the Cylons and the 12 colonies as William Adama (Luke Pasqualino) and his co-pilot, Coker Fasjovik (Ben Cotton) are assigned to protect and escort Dr. Becca Kelly ( Lili Bordán) on a secret mission that may turn the tide of the war back in humanity's favor.
There’s been no word yet on if the response to the “Blood & Chrome” web series was strong enough to make Syfy reconsider continuing the series. In theory, an impressive rating for the “Blood & Chrome” TV movie could get the network’s attention. But it still seems unlikely that “Blood & Chrome” will ever become a weekly TV series like its predecessors.
