‘Falling Skies’ Adds ‘Battlestar Galactica’ & ‘Jericho’ Producers

Ahead of an expected season 4 pickup, David Eick and Carol Barbee join “Falling Skies.”

Falling Skies Season 3

“Falling Skies” Season 3 doesn’t begin running on TNT until next month, but plans are already underway for a likely fourth season.

“Battlestar Galactica” executive producer, David Eick has been signed as the new showrunner of “Falling Skies.” Eick will replace outgoing showrunner, Remi Aubuchon, who oversaw the second and third seasons of the series. In addition to the Battlestar” reboot, Eick also executive produced “Caprica” and the web series “Blood & Chrome” in addition to his stints on “Touch,” “Daybreak” and “The Bionic Woman” reboot. Eick was also previously attached to an "Incredible Hulk" TV project at ABC that has apparently not gone forward.

According to Deadline, Carol Barbee is also joining “Falling Skies” after working with Eick on “Touch” Season 2. Barbee will serve as a consulting producer on “Falling Skies.” Her previous credits include the cult favorite drama, “Jericho,” “Hawaii Five-0,” “Swingtown” and “Three Rivers.”

Despite a slight ratings slide that saw its second season average 3.75 million viewers per initial viewing of each episode, “Falling Skies” is considered a virtual lock for another season on TNT because it was still one of the most viewed dramas on basic cable. TNT also added two new action series, "The Last Ship" and "Legends" for its 2014 schedule; which seem like natural pairings with "Falling Skies" in the summer of 2014. The early start for the new “Falling Skies” writing team is necessary to give the post-production team more time to complete the special effects.

“Falling Skies” Season 3 will debut on Sunday, June 09.
