There were bikini models floating around a fountain, but I wanted to talk about video games with Kevin Pereira. What? If I want to see bikini models in a fountain, I’ll go to the bikini models in a fountain place. I’m working here so pulling the host of Attack of the Show aside was more important business. Still, it’s nice of Comcast to hire the bikini models. Don’t think we’re not grateful.

Crave Online: How have you adjusted to all of the changes to Attack of the Show, your rotating co-hosts?

Kevin Pereira: The rotating cavalcade of hosts that I’m with? Honestly, I think the beauty of the show is that the content is really king. Yes, the delivery is for some people half the fun but I think for the majority of viewers, they’re tuning in because we’re showing funny videos and having hilarious sketches and doing in-depth discussions and reviews and what not. So I don't know how the average viewer feels. My gut tells me that they’re tuning in just because the show is fun and that’s why. It hasn’t been that hard of an adjustment for me. Alison’s great. She’s sort of our go to gal. Morgan Webb’s been there and it’s fun and exciting to bring in new faces and see how is this new person going to react when I make a horrible, horrible dick joke. How is this person going to react when I say something incredibly sexist and stupid? So that kind of keeps me on my toes as well working with new people.

Crave Online: How have you reacted to her success as she’s gone on? She’s on The Daily Show now.

Kevin Pereira: I don’t even have her phone number anymore. That’s the level that she’s at now. She won’t return my calls. No, I watched Olivia when she came in. She started doing interviews for little magazines and what not. I just watched her snowball that and snowball that and run with that. The moment that woman got momentum, she just kept with it so it was a no brainer that she was going to make it this far. I’m sure she will make it exponentially further in the months to come.

Crave Online: What are the games we should be paying attention to post-E3?

Kevin Pereira: If you were a Starcraft 2 fan, that is the one now. It’s the fastest selling RTS of all time. So right away, you know that that’s a game to play and it will be for years to come if the original Starcraft was our guide. I was bummed we didn’t see Diablo 3. I’m a huge fan of that. I wanted to see it. Rage looked amazing if you’re a first-person shooter fan so I’d say definitely keep an eye on what id Software is doing.

Crave Online: What will be on your wish list or what are you going to give people this holiday?

Kevin Pereira: Giving them, probably Best Buy gift cards because I’m lazy. On my wish list is actually going to be the new Rock Band which I never thought I would say. I thought I was done with music games, done with the genre. Rock Band 3 looks awesome and the new Pro mode that allows you to actually play the frets on the guitar and really get a feel like you’re playing the instrument. The fact that I could be learning from a game makes it exponentially more interesting to me so I’m very excited for Rock Band 3.

Crave Online: Is that for the people who Expert was just too easy for?

Kevin Pereira: Actually, playing on Expert was more like playing a keytar. It was more like playing a keyboard than it was playing a guitar. This instrument with the actual frets, it has 120 buttons or something, even on Easy to me was more difficult than Expert mode with the regular guitar. So I think it’s for the breed of player that really wants to learn how to play an instrument.

Crave Online: Do you think they’ll get it right the first time or will we have to trade in for new models?

Kevin Pereira: We’ll always be trading in for new models. We’ll always be purchasing new versions and then my friend will go out and get the hardwood version of that actual guitar. At some point we will all just realize it’s easier to go get an actual instrument and maybe the games will work with it but yes, we’ll all be trading in and spending way too much money.

Crave Online: Did you try the keyboard too?

Kevin Pereira: I did try the keyboard. I was a fan of the keyboard, played it for years but I feel like the one that’s shipping is just too small. It’s like an octave or two and the playing field is too narrow so I think keyboardists might feel a little bit let down but with that particular instrument, they’re not aiming for the professional musician. They’re aiming for the guy who wants to feel like they’re playing keyboard.

Crave Online: For movies, do you think 3D is really here to stay? Will we always have to wear glasses to watch movies now?

Kevin Pereira: I think we have to get to a point where we’re not wearing glasses for 3D to stay, to be honest. Right now it’s a fun gimmick. I’ll go see Step Up in 3D. I don’t care. I love 3D movies. I’ll throw on the glasses and I will enjoy. Will that translate to the home theater? That’s where I think it’s going to live or die because I don’t want to have to buy glasses for all my friends, make sure they’re always charged. I like 3D, I like the notion of it but it remains to be seen. I think five years from now, if we’re still wearing glasses, realistically 7-10 years from now if we’re still wearing them, then 3D’s in trouble.

Crave Online: For the people whose eyes can’t see the effect, is that just a small enough percentage they don’t matter?

Kevin Pereira: I think they’re willing to write it off and it’s even worse because they’re doing a lot of kids’ films and now studies are coming out saying that children under the age of seven or nine should not be seeing 3D at all, that it’s not good for their eyes. You add that on top of people with any sort of eye issues and you have a major problem. I think what we will see is integrated shutters into traditional eyewear. So if you wear glasses for anything else, nearsighted, farsightedness, focusing, whatever, you press a button, the shutters click on and they sync with whatever you’re watching. I see that being a viable option in the near future.
