In 2011, HBO will dive into the fantasy genre with "Game of Thrones," an ambitious adaption of George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" novel series. "Game of Thrones" takes place in a medieval world called Westeros in which magic exists and seasons can span decades, while political alliances, assassinations and military aspirations threaten to engulf the Seven Kingdoms into war.
The series is led by an impressive cast including "Lord of the Rings" star Sean Bean, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Fairley, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Mark Addy. The first season will also adapt the first novel in Martin's series across ten episodes. Some of the writers attached include David Benioff, Dan Weiss, Bryan Cogman, Jane Espenson and even Martin himself, who will write at least one episode.
With the debut of the series now only a few months away, HBO has unleashed a new trailer with never-before-seen footage from the show.
"Game of Thrones" will conquer HBO in Spring 2011.
