As portrayed by Anthony Perkins in the Psycho film series, Norman Bates was one of the most memorable screen villains of all time. This was due to Perkins’ performance, the direction of Alfred Hitchcock in the original Psycho and some seriously disturbing bonds between Norman and his mother.
Next month, A&E reimagines Norman’s story in the present with Freddie Highmore taking over the role in “Bates Motel,” with Vera Farmiga co-starring as his infamous mother, Norma Bates. When “Bates Motel” begins, Norman isn’t yet the monster he will become. But the seeds are definitely there and it probably won’t be long before the bodies start piling up.
A&E has released two extended preview scenes from "Bates Motel" in the video below. After a 35 second trailer of various clips, we see Norma bringing Norman to the hotel for the first time before it cuts to a tense scene between Norman and his older brother, Dylan (Max Thieriot); who has some very unkind things to say about their mother.
“Bates Motel” will be taking reservations on Monday, March 18, only on A&E.
